Beyond hurting competitiveness, these delays heavily weigh on entrepreneurial drive, limiting farmers' ability to plan ahead and innovate.
The EU has rightly refocused its attention on competitiveness. Yet, while discussions largely centre on industry, agriculture remains overlooked. Its enormous potential goes far beyond ensuring Europe's food security. European farms can also produce energy, fertilisers, bio-based materials and a wide range of public goods and services. To unlock this potential, we must remove the regulatory barriers holding farmers and cooperatives back.
